Sunderland City Council – Heat Pump Decarbonisation Project

Cenergist was appointed by Sunderland City Council through the Inprova ‘Renewable Energy Framework’ where Cenergist ranks number one for heat pumps.

Heat pumps are widely recognised as a key decarbonisation measure. The project will deliver low carbon heating improvements into 8 sites across the City. Works will include the installation of new commercial grade air source heat pumps, updated building controls, thermal stores and underfloor heating. The installations are set to save 375 tonnes of CO2 per year. Sites include: Houghton Lee Spring Library, Ryhope Children’s Centre, the Civic Hall and a number business centres and nurseries.

Leeds City Council

Cenergist is delivering Leeds City Council’s £24 million ‘Clustering for Warmth’ initiative.

This involves the design, build, operation and maintenance of low carbon district heating networks for 26 high rise blocks across Leeds over the next three years. The initiative forms part of Leeds City Council’s £100m investment in improving energy efficiency of its housing stock by 2025.

The project involves replacing old electric storage heating in the 26 high rise blocks for low carbon district heating networks predominantly utilising ground source heat pumps. GSHP shared loop systems are a key decarbonisation technology, which will reduce residents’ carbon emissions and energy bills.

Ground Source Heat Pump systems with a heat pump in tenant properties currently provide an excellent opportunity for social housing providers to decarbonise their stock, reduce tenant fuel bills whilst installing a fiscally viable new heating and hot water system.

In addition to this, an earlier pilot project at The Heights East and West, delivered by Cenergist was nationally recognised for being the best social housing project decarbonisation project in 2021.

Feedback from our Customers:

Mrs Kaur, resident of Westerly Croft in Armley, has already had a GSHP system installed by Cenergist.  She said “The system is great, and it has really cut my energy bills.  At the same time, my home is much warmer. The contractor was professional and left my home clean and tidy.”
