Cenergist was asked to design and deliver an operational ESCO providing heating and hot water for 318 flats in a group of Grade-II listed buildings. These are located in the historic basin area of Barrow in Furness and are part of an area-wide regeneration plan.
The system was designed and built in line with stringent heritage requirements. Two plantrooms serve the district network with heat supplied from a mix of biomass & gas-fired boiler plant. The design includes scope for future expansion to serve other redevelopments in the area. Switch2 supplied the metering and now manages the billing for the site. Cenergist now has responsibility for operating the system for the ESCO.
The project was notable for the heritage elements and also the need to work alongside a separate main contractor charged with the renewal of bathrooms and kitchens on the site.
